SOJOURN WITH SAFFRON LLEWELYN

May 4, 2017

Sojourn. A temporary stay. Stay somewhere temporarily.

Having culinary as her family background, Saffron Llewelyn is one of the inspirational young generation who grows in fashion and film industries. In the six years career span, she appeared on short films and several renowned fashion magazines.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY DOING?

Photoshoots. At the moment I’ve been really with that. Usually for magazines, sometimes for brands and recently I did a short film. It was really nerve-racking, the videographer did send me the takes but it’s not working so I had no idea what the final product was going to turn out like. I was really nervous and thinking I’m going to cringe seeing myself acting. I was really embarrassed when they showed it for the first time but in the end I thought it wasn’t too bad and I enjoyed it. I wouldn’t mind doing another short film but I think I’m going to stick with shoots.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT?

I love Suki Waterhouse and Kiko, so I was always on Instagram. I just like them as a person I find them interesting. They’re very different not like other models I feel like they really unique so that’s why I really look up to them.

WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?

I think the short film. That was my first short film so it’s kind of an achievement. I still can’t believe I did that. And I think Clara and Nylon magazine are also a good achievements.

AND WHEN DID YOU START DOING PHOTO SHOOT?

I think when I was in fourth grade. How old was that made me? So six years ago. The first shoot that I did I think it’s on Dewi Magazine, the wedding anniversary. I posed as a bridesmaid, in the cover fold it’s like I was not really in there, but if you fold it a bit and you see someone, that’s me. I remember I was really excited; my mom’s best friend shot it so she was there too and since I was little she always helps me to slowly get out there with my modeling.

DO YOU COOK?

Not really cook, I mostly baked. I only cook on some occasions, it’s only when I need to. I like cheesecake. It’s the thing that I always baked. I see recipe and I tried it myself, my Dad helps me turn the oven and stuff like that cause I’m just so bad at doing that.

AS YOUR FAMILY BACKGROUND IS CULINARY ARE YOU ALSO INTERESTED IN FOOD?

I guess I am. I’m really interested in pastries and dessert. I remember when we ate out and have a dessert I commented on the ingredients and my grandpa always told me to cook that sometimes. I always eat good food so I don’t really have any favorite food.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DESSERT?

What’s in my mind right now is Biku’s carrot cake. They have the best carrot cake and their Pavlova.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?

I remember when I was younger I want to be a singer but now if I look back at that thought; what was I thinking, or a tennis player, which I was pretty serious at one point, but then decided not to. Now, I either want to be a fashion stylist or hair artist, it might be cool and perhaps model for a side job as well.

DO YOU HAVE A SECRET HOBBY?

Probably tennis, not many people now that, swimming and basketball as well. I was a really sporty kid. I took sports seriously. I used to join swimming competitions and always put pressure on myself to win ‘cause I’m scared if I failed.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS?

Not really. I don’t really believe in superstitions, I don’t think it’s necessary to think about them.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN ASTROLOGY?

I do believe in astrology, I’m a cancer. We think about things deeply. I might look okay at the outside but I’m pretty sensitive and quite a deep thinker on the inside. My boyfriend is a Scorpio and we have the same element, water. So in a way, I think we’re matched. They may seem so emotionless but they actually care.

WHICH ARTIST ARE YOU CURRENTLY LISTENING TO?

I listening to The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys, more indie or indie rock artist. I listened to house music like Disclosure but I’m not really into EDM. I mean, I like to dance rather than rave. Actually, I didn’t really listen to any house music before I listened to Disclosure.

WHAT IS YOUR HAPPIEST MEMORY?

My 15 th birthday this year, my friend who I grew up with was moving to Australia, we’re close and used to go to the same school, so on my birthday my mom treated us on party. It was so fun, I felt so loved and free, I really enjoyed it, it was very intimate ‘cause we’re close to each other. It’s like a birthday with one person that you actually cared and understands you. Shout out to Lara!

SO YOU’VE CHOSEN BIRTHSTONE R, ALPHABET R. AND TOUCH R. ANY SPECIFIC REASON?

I like the birthstone one ‘cause it’s personal. As or the Alphabet R. I really like that, I’ve wanted something like that for a long time and the Touch R. I think it’s kind of different. I’m a big ring person, I only love rings.
